Rex Airlines – Review – Economy Class & Business Class

Today marks the first day of jet operations for regional airline Rex; the airline was created in 2002 after the merger of regional airlines Hazelton and Kendell, both subsidiaries of the now-defunct Ansett Australia.

It was an exciting experience to be a part of the inaugural service between Melbourne and Sydney today. The airline provided coffee from local brand St Ali one of the first pioneers who defined specialty coffee in Melbourne back in 2005. Also, breakfast boxes were offered to everyone before boarding consisting of scones and jam.

As with any new airline launch, there was plenty of fanfare with media and avgeeks participating in the first flight.

Rex announced new routes from Melbourne to the Gold Coast (29 March), Sydney to the Gold Coast (1 April), as well as Melbourne to Adelaide (31 March) with some great airfare

Turkish Airlines- Inflight meals – What to Expect!

In my opinion, Turkish Airlines offers some of the tastiest inflight meals in economy class. Business class dining options are excellent too.  If you want to check out my other stories about Turkish Airlines, check here, and here. Here’s a breakdown of what I recently received from Paris to Singapore (via Istanbul) in economy class.

With a flight time of just 2hr and 35mins, I was very impressed with the inflight food offering on this sector.

The cabin crew offered a choice of beef or pasta; I opted for the beef, which came with some vegetables and rice, an entrée of yogurt with peas, and a delicious chocolate mousse.

I loved the meal; the beef was flavourful and the quantity perfect. My only gripe is that my water and part of the entrée were frozen solid.

The airline provides proper

Thai Airways meals – Review and information for passengers

I’ve flown many times with Thai Airways in economy class, and you can read more about those experiences here, here, and here. In April, I decided to visit some friends in Paris and Zurich, and Thai had some great airfares ex Melbourne.

The crew on Thai are generally quite good, always smiling, welcoming and friendly. I don’t find their western food offerings very exciting; however, I will always order the local Thai dish, and I find they are always great tasting and authentic.

On this 8.5-hour flight from Melbourne to Bangkok Thai provides two meal services, served on meal trays. (Many airlines are either removing or downsizing their second meal services on some flights)

For the first service, I selected the curry, which was delicious and served with smoked salmon and vegetable salad. The

Singapore Airlines – Economy Class Meals Cutbacks

singapore airlines economy class meal

I feel as though Singapore Airlines have cut back many elements that formed part of their signature economy class service. I understand that Covid had a detrimental impact on airlines, and they are doing what they can to reduce further losses and increase profit. However, I dislike it when airlines use Covid as an excuse to make cutbacks, especially in the back of the aircraft.

Airfares are currently at insane levels, airlines have become greedy, and service cutbacks are the norm in the economy class cabin. SQ is no stranger to this phenomenon, as I recently found out on a flight from Singapore to Melbourne in economy class.

Singapore Airlines lounge food

First up, I visited the lounge, which was recently renovated. It was a lovely experience and offered an array of food options, and I ordered some noodles and dumplings, which were ready in

Aegean Airlines – Inflight meals

Aegean are still one of my favourite airlines to travel with in Europe. The crew are consistently genuine, happy and proud to deliver a typically Greek hospitality experience. Since November 2021 I have flown with the airline several times including:

August 2022

Corfu to Paris

November 2021

Paris to Athens

November 2021

Athens to London

The inflight service is slightly different to pre covid-19 times. In business class, the crew delivers one meal tray, which includes the starter, main, and dessert; previously, each course was served separately. In economy class, snack boxes are offered, including a small sandwich and sweet.

The airline has maintained a level of service in business class, but economy class has certainly seen drastic cuts.

Aegean airlines will introduce a new service on October 6th, and we will see the return of hot snacks

Air France – Terminal 2F

air france terminal 2F lounge bistro

The Air France Lounge at Terminal 2F at Paris CDG is the busiest lounge across the airline’s network. With an area of 3,000 m2 and 570 seats spread over two levels, the lounge welcomes around 3000 passengers daily travelling to European and French destinations.

The lounge is open from 0530 to 2200 daily. Access is free to those travelling in Business, La Premiere, and Economy holding Flying Blue Platinum, Gold, and SkyTeam Elite Plus.

Each lounge has a unique style, and this space was designed by the Jouin Manku agency, founded by Canadian architect Sanjit Manku and French designer Patrick Jouin. The ground floor area is designed for passengers with a short connection and offers more express food options. There are also detox and zen areas with herbal teas, fresh fruit, and a rest area for those looking

Air Canada – Economy Class Meals

air canada economy class hot meal

Earlier this month, I flew from Paris to Los Angeles (via Montreal) with Air Canada to experience their international and North American inflight service.  Meals are complimentary on long-haul flights; however, on North American and Caribbean flights, you can purchase items from their Bistro inflight meal program. There is more information on that right here.

My experience began at Paris CDG airport at the airlines’ Maple Leaf Lounge (I had access with my Star Alliance Gold level). The lounge has seen better days but offers adequate food and drink options at various stations.

AC 871 departed Paris at 1430 with a flight time of 7 hours. This flight included two complimentary meal services; the first was the main meal offering, and the second was a small snack service.  About 15 mins after takeoff, the crew began the

Malaysia Airlines Business Class Experience

During the last month, I have flown Malaysia Airlines from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne in business class and on a separate trip from Bali to Manila via KL in economy class. This flight from KL was part of a trip from Paris to Melbourne with Oman Air.

Highlights included the delicious satay service, amazing cabin crew, and many food choices. Did I mention the satay?

In early November, I flew on MH 149, a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne, taking 7hr and 45min on their A330 aircraft.

As soon as I reached my seat, I noticed the amenity kit and inflight menu.

I was offered a hot towel and a choice of drinks before taking off.

As this was a night flight, the airline offered a dine-anytime supper service followed by a complete breakfast offering.

I was seated in

Malaysia Airlines Economy Class Experience

My flight from Denpasar Airport to KL would take 2hr 55mins on the airlines’ A330 aircraft. Overall the flight wasn’t special, and the cabin crew was a little standoffish and hardly conversed with passengers.

About 15 mins after taking off, the crew began delivering the special meals by hand. A set of crew worked from the rear of the aircraft and met their colleagues halfway in the cabin. Once the food was delivered, a beverage cart followed behind.

Note that Malaysia Airlines does not offer alcohol on flights within three hours of Kuala Lumpur.

25 mins after taking off, I was offered a meal.

Surprisingly there were two choices offered, chicken or fish.

I opted for the chicken, which was quite good. It was served in a box containing a packet of nuts, a water bottle, and eco-friendly cutlery.

About 45

Saudia Airlines -Business Class – Experience 2023

I recently flew with Saudia from Manila to Amsterdam via Jeddah in business class. I was unsure what to expect, but it was a fantastic experience. I was able to experience the new service on the Amsterdam flight and the old service from Manila which will be phased out soon.

My only issue during the trip was part of the ground experience at Jeddah airport. The cleanliness of the showers at their lounge in Jeddah left a lot to be desired. However, the lounge was quite impressive.

Overall, it was a great experience; it exceeded my expectations. It felt like flying on a small boutique airline that has carefully curated its new inflight experience. The crew was excellent on both flights, and I would like to send a big shout-out to Tania on my flight from Jeddah to Amsterdam. She was so
