Summer is quickly approaching and individuals are gearing up for their vacations here at home and in other elements of the world. I spend much of my time in Europe leading excursions, writing about my travels and exploring new locations. Because I journey so much, I am typically asked about journey, terrorism, refugees and the way I determine if it is secure to go on a visit. Being on the road out of the country allows me to see things from a distinct perspective than we get right here at home. Culture, customs and ways of life differ from nation to country, as does the way wherein the media addresses local and worldwide events. So, my brief answer is that there is nothing to concern when traveling anyplace in Europe. I definitely wouldn’t put myself, my family or my travel partners in hurt’s means by visiting an unsafe destination.

American Medicare, for retired Americans, isn’t honored in Europe. Your European service providers will offer you copies of your medical expenditures; you may be able to have these out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed by your personal medical insurance plan back house. And I recommend checking into traveler’s medical insurance – notably if you aren’t in the best of health. It may be very inexpensive and nicely value the extra peace of mind it can afford you.
